Ambition
Equip HEC researchers with a state-of-the-art AI laboratory featuring high computing and storage capacity, as well as a dedicated technical team.
This facility will support the faculty in its research and teaching activities, enhance the quality and impact of scientific output, foster cross-innovation with corporate partners, and enable the development of new pedagogical tools.
In today’s data-driven world, technical excellence is no longer optional for leading academic institutions. For HEC Paris to remain at the forefront of global research and education, its professors must have access to exceptional technological support—capabilities that will allow for major progress in research capacity, pedagogical innovation, and partnerships with corporate collaborators.
With the TECH Lab, HEC is pursuing three main objectives:
- Accelerate high-impact research
The TECH Lab will enable professors to leverage cutting-edge AI and data science techniques to push the boundaries of knowledge in economics and management. With dedicated technical support, researchers will be able to significantly increase the volume, visibility, reproducibility, and overall impact of their scientific work.
- Transform teaching through innovation
The Lab will support the launch of a new series of HEC Paris case studies (Data & Business Cases), presenting students with real corporate use cases of AI in practice. Unlike traditional cases, Data & Business Cases will combine code and real datasets, with a focus on the business impact of AI. These cases will also offer participating companies a platform to showcase and share their expertise, while helping train the next generation of leaders capable of integrating AI at the heart of their decision-making.
- Serve as the technical backbone for research chairs and corporate collaborations
Rather than multiplying technical teams across centers and chairs, the TECH Lab will provide professors with the support of a centralized group of AI experts, simplifying project execution and ensuring technical and operational excellence.

The TECH Lab is a concrete expression of HEC’s commitment to research. Beyond recruiting the world’s top scholars, the school is creating an optimal environment that provides the technical framework required in data science and significantly increases both the volume and the economic and societal impact of their scientific contributions.

Infrastructure
The laboratory will include a dozen high-performance workstations, as well as access to advanced CPU and GPU computing capacity suited to intensive research tasks. Dedicated research servers will provide secure, high-capacity storage and processing power. Professors will also benefit from access to a wide range of socio-economic and financial databases.
Personnel
A team of research engineers will bring advanced expertise in AI and data science. The TECH Lab will also host research assistants, strengthening its ability to support faculty while offering HEC students a true research-based learning experience.
