HEC Lab: AI, Innovation & Future of work
Ambition
A new HEC Lab to analyze the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on skills and employment, business productivity, and emerging organizational models — and to support the transition toward a future of work that is more responsible, inclusive, and humanly sustainable, where technology amplifies human capabilities instead of replacing them.
HEC Paris is unique in its ability to balance academic research, pedagogical innovation, and real-world experimentation in companies. The school operates as both a laboratory of ideas and a laboratory of action, producing scientific knowledge directly informed by field realities and observed constraints.
Under the umbrella of the new HEC Institute, research is opening even more to the economic and institutional spheres, ensuring that the work conducted at HEC informs society and public decision-making — notably through barometers and strategic policy briefs.
With the creation of the HEC Lab AI, Innovation & Future of Work, the school affirms its commitment to developing an empirical and rigorous approach to artificial intelligence in organizations. By combining knowledge creation, transmission, and concrete impact, HEC positions itself as a central actor in the international governance of artificial intelligence.
Researchers in the Lab examine the effects of AI on work, management, and organizational models, as well as the new skills required to navigate these transformations. Their work aims to formulate practical recommendations for leaders facing this major technological, economic, and social shift.
More broadly, the Lab analyzes the consequences of AI on society and democracy by exploring the conditions for responsible AI grounded in algorithmic fairness, transparency, and data protection. This approach seeks to foster a sustainable model of artificial intelligence aligned with democratic values.
