HEC Lab on Business and Geopolitics

Ambition

In a world reshaped by rapid technological upheavals and unprecedented geopolitical tensions, HEC Paris is launching a new Lab with a crucial mission: to provide decision-makers with strategic intelligence that is reliable, rapid, and actionable.

HEC Paris is launching an ambitious alternative to traditional think tanks and consulting firms, which have been outpaced by the speed and radical nature of today’s geopolitical transformations.

Leaders — CEOs, investors, and public officials — now face a proliferation of risks: technological innovations turned into instruments of soft power, armed conflicts and the reconfiguration of geopolitical blocs, capital volatility and supply chain disruptions, transnational information manipulation, and unprecedented regulatory and environmental pressures.

To navigate this turbulence, they need a new tool: a space that deciphers, connects, and guides. Private and public actors have never been more in need of a place capable of anticipating the unexpected.

This is the ambition of the Business & Geopolitics Lab. Our distinctiveness lies in our unique ability to identify emerging risks, propose concrete strategies to address them, and prepare organizations for a world in which interdependence has become a weapon.

The Lab is an unparalleled crossroads, bringing together geopolitical experts, business leaders, academics, public officials, diplomats, investors, and technology analysts — an ecosystem that rarely interacts elsewhere. From this rigorous dialogue will emerge informed interpretations of emerging crises, a sharp understanding of shifting power dynamics, and business recommendations that can be applied immediately.

Three strategic pillars guide the Lab’s work:

  • Developing corporate strategies for an increasingly unstable environment
  • Understanding the new world of geopolitical blocs
  • The future of investment — capital allocation and talent flows in the face of geological and climate-related challenges

Around these pillars, the Lab will produce:

  • Major events and high-value seminars
  • Strategic reports on weak signals
  • Operational notes and recommendations for decision-makers
  • A committed community focused on the major geopolitical transformations impacting the business world

Finally, we will train a new generation of leaders capable of combining a deep understanding of both business and geopolitics — a skill that has become indispensable.

DE L'IDEE A L'ACTION

By supporting the Business & Geopolitics Lab, you enable:

  • the production of unique strategic insights to understand the world’s shifting dynamics;

  • the training of future decision-makers in the geopolitical challenges that will shape their capacity to act;

  • access, for your organization, to analyses, frameworks, and recommendations that can be applied directly.

A contribution that benefits you, benefits the community, and benefits the global economy.

The nature of risk has become multifaceted and now extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of the business world. It plays out in geopolitical tensions, technological disruptions, societal transformations, and the urgency of climate change. Harder to grasp, harder to insure. Our ambition is to build a community capable of engaging in dialogue, deepening understanding, and anticipating these new paradigms in order to guide collective action.
